Sunday, October 9, 2022 - Leftovers, Salad and French Apple Pie

Tonight's dinner was leftovers, plus a salad bar and dessert.

  • Salad bar - Greens, carrots and peppers from Harmony Valley Farm, onion, cheese, kraut, pickled banana peppers from the garden
  • French Apple Pie - made with apples from our yard

Jack Frost came last night, but much of the garden appeared to survive. The peppers and eggplant, which I had covered, are still alive. The pole beans, tomatoes, tomatillos and Mexican sunflower, which I had not covered, are also alive. Anything near the arbor vitae trees, but not close to the ground, lived. The summer squash which I had partially covered, seems damaged but may still live a bit longer. It is still producing. The winter squash and pumpkin have seen better days. I'll probably pull all of those this weekend.
